Hamilton Model Engineers With Hamilton now being my home I have got myself heavily involved with the local Model Engineering club. Working my way onto the committee, and then into a Vice-President's role one could say I've become part of the furniture. Soon after I got involved I got certified on both electric and petrol locomotives, then worked on my steam ticket. I have now held a full steam ticket for a few years and have done many circuits of the tracks at HME on a variety of locomotives. I feel very passionate and strongly about the Hamilton club, and I can be found there most Sunday's. Glenbrook Vintage Railway Of late I have been getting involved with some larger trains, and have been volunteering on the Track Gang at the GVR. Back breaking work at times, but very rewarding to see a straight and level section of track that you worked on. Over the '09/'10 running season I intend to get myself onto the operations roster, and start off as a cleaner, working my way up to at least a fireman over the coming years. Waitakere Tramline Society This is where it all started - back at the WTS buried deep in the bush, West of Auckland. I often went monthly to the WTS with my grandfather, Keith Wright. Here I helped out with the monthly work days, and learnt to drive the Diesel-Hydraulic locomotive. The WTS is a 2ft gauge railway, nestled in the Waitakere Ranges. |
